peace

The other day, while walking in a neighborhood in East Nashville, I ran across a butterfly.

roses

I'm not a huge fan of roses but my house came with six very old bushes that I can't seem to part with. I do get a lot of enjoyment out of going outside and picking a few for my house.

new inspiration

While I was shopping at Anthropologie, I fell in love with this butter dish. I loved the colors and the shape. I think it's beautiful. www.anthropologie.com

favorite scent

My absolute favorite scent in the whole world is Route Du The from Barneys New York. I've been wearing it for almost 10 years but every time I spay it, it takes me to a place of peace. There is something that I cannot describe about the way it makes me feel. It makes me happy, http://www.barneys.com/Route%20du%20The%20%283.4%20oz.%29/196015001,default,pd.html

fresh

A couple of weeks ago, I went blackberry picking with my husband and a friend. We only spent about 30 minutes picking but we ended up with an abundance of berries. I made jam from most of it but with the rest I  placed them on parchment like little soldiers lined up. I found some pleasure from placing each berry individually. It gave me a few minutes to let my mind wonder while my eyes were focusing on keeping an even line. I look forward to snacking on the frozen berries soon. Maybe adding them to my iced tea or lemonade.

afternoon tea

There is something so simple and luxurious about afternoon tea. I know,  it's summer and I don't drink tea as often but in Portland, we do have those cloudy days and you just want to enjoy a cup of tea.
